    Cell Biology of Bacterial Infections

    Abstract : Coxiella burnetii is a widespread zoonotic bacterial pathogen responsible for human Q fever, a worldwide spread debilitating flu-like illness. Coxiella infects domestic ruminants, pets and arthropods resulting in usually asymptomatic infections but it can lead to miscarriages and stillbirths. The main source of infection for human hosts is contaminated aerosols, as consequence populations at risk of contamination include farmers, veterinarians, and slaughterhouse workers. (...)
