An interdisciplinary work led by the team of Laura Picas in collaboration with Adrian Carretero-Genevrier’s team

An interdisciplinary work led by the team of Laura Picas in collaboration with Adrian Carretero-Genevrier’s team (Institue of Electronics and Systems) published in ACS Appl. Mater. Interfaces (IF = 8.76).

Membrane curvature is a key feature of many cellular processes, including cell migration, membrane trafficking, cell-cell fusion or cell division.

In this work, the researchers have developed a customizable and straightforward lithographic method compatible with advanced microscopies to determine how membrane curvature modulates the mechanics, dynamics and steady-state organization of cellular membranes. These results open the door to address in the future the molecular mechanisms assisting the formation of specialized domains associated to morphological changes at the cell membrane, for instance during host-pathogen interactions as well as the development of biotechnological applications including tissue regeneration or bio-sensing devices.
